Pacman winning the WBC lightweight belt in a one-sided bout with former champ, David Diaz. Well, this is an expected result. Since the fight contract was signed, I can’t see Diaz winning at all, not a chance. Diaz is tailor-made for pacman, he just trade punches and move less. For me, this is pacman’s greatest fight performance since the second bout with Eric Morales. Pacman’s very dominating right from the start. All of the punches, regardless whether it’s his left or right hand, just keep coming in. And pacman’s great lateral movement really made it hard for diaz to hit him.
As I watched the fight, I awarded no round to diaz, not even one. He was completely dominated by pacman’s great hand speed and powerful punches. I was surprised diaz lasted that long. With that aggressiveness, even barrera and morales won’t last 5 rounds. And if pacman would continuously fight like this, nobody can match up with him at that division. Not even current alphabet champs like campbell and casamayor. I can say that he is stronger and more comfortable at this division.
How would this victory sum up? This made him the first Filipino as well as first Asian to win four belts in four different divisions. Having such put him in a legacy with great fighters such as dela hoya, mayweather, duran and hearns to name a few. And he also proved that he deserves to be the #1 pound-per-pound boxer today.
So what’s next??? If I were pacman’s promoter (listen Bob Arum), I’ll have casamayor by year ends. Then campbell and amir khan by next year. joan guzman and edwin valero are great fights but won’t generate much money. Please don’t give him ricky hatton. It’s a suicide!!!
